Scott Newman received his Master of Science degree in Technology Management from the University Of Maryland at College Park.  His thesis was on the uses of Telecommunications in Distance Education.  Scott received his Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology and a certificate of  Environmental Science from Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA.   He has also completed advanced coursework in statistical analysis at the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education and has been certified in Distance Learning Instruction. 
Scott’s background includes positions as:

  • Research Associate at the Medical College of Pennsylvania;
  • Programmer Analyst and Consultant for the US House of Representatives;
  • Project Manager, Program Administrator, and Senior Systems Analyst for CSR, Inc.;
  • Senior Team Leader for DuPont Pharmaceuticals;
  • Technology Education Manager for Morgan, Lewis, & Bockius LLP;
  • and Director of Training for Dechert LLP.

Scott spent ten years in Washington D.C. working for the U.S. House of Representatives and as a consultant providing support for the Department of Justice, Office of National Drug Control Policy, Department of Energy, Department of Labor, Department of Health and Human Services, and the National Institutes of Health.

Notably, he pioneered placing the research database (ETOH) on the web for the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism.  Scott also contributed significantly to the acquisition and management of over $40 million in federal grants.  After returning to Pennsylvania, Scott established the DuPont Technology Education Center for the DuPont/Merck Pharmaceuticals company, the Technology Education Team for Morgan, Lewis & Bockius, LLP, and Dechert University for Dechert LLP.

He has presented his work at the Pennsylvania Distance Learning Association, Masie TechLearn Conference, International Teleconferencing Association, and published in The Distance Learning Journal. He is a member of the American Society of Training and Development, American Legal Training Association, and the eLearning Guild.
